Rebecca Newman
Rebecca is an outstanding Community Engagement Manager who is helping to transform the sports events industry with her unwavering passion and commitment for DEI. She stands out as a creative force, consistently innovating and supporting her colleagues, and always striving to leave a positive mark on communities she engages with. Drawing from her unique experience in delivering sport for change programmes in prisons, Rebecca brings fresh perspectives and a deep sense of empathy to her work, ensuring every project is designed to uplift and inspire.
Her creativity has led to ground-breaking initiatives, such as 'City to the Trails', which opens new pathways for community run leaders and their groups into trail running events. Rebecca’s pioneering spirit was further demonstrated this year through her work to deliver what is believed to be the UK’s first half marathon in a prison setting, in partnership with the Prison Reform Trust. This initiative prepared prisoners for a half marathon within the prison and connected them to running communities after release, showing Rebecca’s commitment to genuine social impact.
